Soldering AMPCO® 18

AMPCO® 18 can be soldered, but the process requires careful attention to flux selection. Because AMPCO® 18 has a high aluminum content, exceeding 10%, a flux material specifically suited to high-aluminum alloys is essential.

Silver solder is the recommended solder type, but the correct flux is the most critical factor in achieving a reliable joint. Without an appropriate flux, the oxide layer formed by the aluminum content will prevent proper bonding.
