Grinding AMPCOLOY® 83

AMPCOLOY® 83 requires a silicon carbide grinding wheel with fine grain. Sufficient cooling lubricant must be used throughout the grinding operation to prevent heat buildup and surface damage. A dedicated grinding wheel should be reserved for copper alloys and not shared with steel alloy grinding operations, as cross-contamination from steel particles can affect surface quality and wheel performance. Grinding wheel manufacturers and machine manufacturers should be consulted for specific recommendations suited to the equipment and application in question.
