Electroless Nickel Coating on AMPCOLOY® 83 for Glass-Filled Nylon Injection

Improving Abrasion Resistance for Demanding Plastic Processing Applications

When AMPCOLOY® 83 is used for injection molding of nylon with 30% glass fiber content, the addition of a hard electroless nickel coating is a suitable and effective solution to improve abrasion resistance. This coating is widely available through galvanic coating specialists. The coating process is compatible with AMPCOLOY® 83 provided that the processing temperature remains within the thermal limits of the alloy.
