AMPCOLOY® 83 for Heat Staking Tips on Glass-Filled Polypropylene

Material and Coating Recommendation for Thermal Joining Applications

For heat staking tips used to melt and join 30% glass-filled polypropylene, AMPCOLOY® 83 is the recommended base material. To improve wear resistance against the abrasive glass fiber content, an electroless nickel coating should be applied to the tip surface. This combination provides the necessary thermal conductivity for effective heat staking while extending the service life of the tooling.
