AMPCO® Alloy Recommendation for Blow Molding Applications

For blow molding applications, AMPCO® 18 is the most widely used material globally, particularly for the neck and bottom areas of the mold. It is preferred over AMPCOLOY® 940 in most cases due to its better suitability for EDM (electrical discharge machining), which is a common requirement for these mold components. AMPCOLOY® 940 can be specified if the customer has a strong preference, but AMPCO® 18 remains the standard recommendation for this application.
