Welding AMPCOLOY® Alloys

Welding of AMPCOLOY® alloys is recommended only for repair purposes and should be carried out using laser welding.

Other welding processes are technically difficult to execute on AMPCOLOY® alloys because they require very high preheat temperatures that must be maintained throughout the welding operation.

At these temperatures, the material will lose its mechanical properties. Laser welding avoids this issue and is therefore the preferred method when repair welding is necessary.
