Stress Relief Heat Treatment for AMPCO® 45

AMPCO® 45 is supplied in a stress-relieved condition. If stresses are introduced during subsequent machining operations, an additional stress relief can be performed in the rough-machined condition before finish machining. The recommended procedure is to heat to 300°C, hold for 1.5 hours, then cool in air. This should be carried out before finish machining to allow for any minor warpage that may occur during the heat treatment cycle.
