Static and Dynamic Coefficients of Friction for AMPCO® 18, 21, and 25

Reference Values for Sliding Application Design Across Three Common Alloy Grades

For AMPCO® alloys used in sliding applications, static and dynamic coefficients of friction are considered equal for each grade. The following reference values apply:

AMPCO® 18: 0.18 (both static and dynamic) AMPCO® 21: 0.21 (both static and dynamic) AMPCO® 25: 0.30 (both static and dynamic)

These values are measured in dry conditions against SAE 4340 steel and should be used as reference parameters when designing sliding applications involving these alloys.
