AMPCOLOY® 944 vs. Beryllium Copper

AMPCOLOY® 944 was developed to deliver high thermal conductivity, tensile strength, and hardness without the use of beryllium. This is a meaningful distinction, as inhaled beryllium-containing dust can cause a chronic and potentially life-threatening allergic lung disease in some individuals. AMPCOLOY® 944 is therefore better aligned with current health, safety, and environmental regulations in most markets.

In addition, AMPCOLOY® 944 carries food approval, making it suitable for use in food processing and medical industry applications where beryllium copper cannot be used.

From a performance standpoint, AMPCOLOY® 944 generally offers higher thermal conductivity than beryllium copper, which is a direct advantage in molding applications where heat dissipation is a primary requirement.
